Verfasserangabe Robert Louis Stevenson
Annotation Set in Scotland shortly after the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745, Kidnapped tells the story of young David Balfour´s adventures at the hands of his villainous uncle Ebenezer, of attempted murder, of shipwreck, and of perilous journeys in the Scotish Highlands. Stevenson took from Scottish history the murder of Colin Campell of Glenure, the "Red Fox", as the basis for this classic tale of adventure.
Catriona, the sequel to Kidnapped, takes up David Balfour´s story as he becomes further involved in the political intrigue of the Appin Case and in the ignominious trial of James of the Glens. A crucial part of the novel is the "Tale of Tod Lapraik", a story of diabolic obsession and one of the greatest of Stevenson´s Scottish tales; and, in the Highland heroine, Catriona, and her fried and sometimes rival, Barbara Grant, the book in-
troduces the reader to two of Stevenson´s moster memorable female characters.
